The Quran...

The Quran is a record of the exact words revealed by God through the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad. It was memorized by Muhammad and then dictated to his Companions, and written down by scribes, who cross-checked it during his lifetime. Not one word of its 114 chapters, Suras, has been changed over the centuries, so that the Quran is in every detail the unique and miraculous text which was revealed to Muhammad fourteen centuries ago. It is the only book that has never been corrupted, changed or altered, down to the very last word. The Quran, the last revealed Word of God, is the prime source of every Muslim's faith and practice. It deals with all the subjects which concern us as human beings: wisdom, doctrine, worship, and law, but its basic theme is the relationship between God and His creatures. At the same time it provides guidelines for a just society, proper human conduct and an equitable economic system. The Quran will remain preserved and unchanged, after the other Divine books and messages have been changed. The Quran is the miracle until the Day of Judgment. Allah has challenged anyone to bring a book like the Quran or even ten verses like it.

Why have I chosen the path of Islam?

I am a Muslimah because the only logical explanation of all the wonder in the universe and in ourselves is that a Creator exists.

Every breath I take is a mercy from that Creator. To deny God, I would be denying myself and my life. Indeed, I see God's miracles everywhere, I cannot but love, worship and obey Him. Through God's commands, revealed in the Qur'an and the examples of the Prophet Muhammad, I know exactly how to live my life. I am free to choose between peace and happiness by becoming a part of God's greater design, and the nightmare of rejecting my Creator's guidance.

I am a Muslimah because I choose to be logical and far-sighted. I see the logic of Islam and am far-sighted enough to plan for the eternity that God has offered. For me, Islam is a religion founded on only truth. It is such a fountain-head of learning that several streams of wisdom and knowledge flow from it. It is such a lamp that several lamps will be lighted from it. It is a lofty beacon of light illumining the path of Allah. It is such a set of principles and beleifs that it will fully satisfy every seeker of truth and reality. Know you that Allah has made Islam the most sublime path for attainment of His supreme pleasure and the highest standards of His worship and obedience. He has favoured it with noble precepts, exalted principles, undoubtable arguments, unchallengeable supremacy and undeniable wisdom. This is why I follow it sincerly, to do justice to its articles of faith and beleif, to obey implicity and orders and to give it the proper place in my life. It's not just a religion, it's everything...

What do you see when you look at me?

Do you see someone limited, or someone free?All some people can do is just look and stare,Simply because they can't see my hair.Others think I am controlled and uneducated,They think that I am limited and un-liberated.They are so thankful that they are not me,Because they would like to remain 'free'.
Well free isn't exactly the word I would've used,Describing women who are cheated on and abused.They think that I do not have opinions or voice,They think that being hooded isn't my choice. They think that the hood makes me look caged,That I must be completely outraged.All they can do is look at me in fear,And in my eye there is a tear.
Not because I have been stared at or made fun of,But because people are ignoring the One up above. On the day of judgment they will be the fools,Because they were too ashamed to play by their own rules.Maybe the guys won't think I am a cutie,But at least I am filled with more inner beauty.See I have declined from being a guy's toy,Because I won't let myself be controlled by a boy.
Real men are able to appreciate my mind, And aren't busy looking at my behind.Hooded girls are the ones really helping the Muslim cause, The role that we play definitely deserves applause.I will be recognized because I am smart and bright,And because some people are inspired by my sight.The smart ones are attracted by my tranquility, In the back of their mind they wish they were me.
We have the strength to do what we think is right,Even if it means putting up a life long fight.You see we are not controlled by a mini skirt and tight shirt,We are given only respect, and never treated like dirt. So you see, we are the ones that are free and liberated, We are not the ones that are sexually terrorized and violated. We are the ones that are free and pure, We're free of STD's that have no cure.
So when people ask you how you feel about the hood, Just sum it up by saying: 'Baby its all good' !!

What is Islam?..

Islam is the religion of the Unification of God; of freedom from associating partners with Him, and rejection of this; of complete love of Him, the Exalted; of complete submission to His Laws; and of the discarding of all the opinions, orders, theories and religions which contradict with the religion He sent down to His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Islam is the religion of all the prophets, and makes no distinction between them - peace be upon them all. It is the seal of all previous religions. It is the religion of showing kindness to others, establishing justice between them, granting them their rights, and defending the oppressed and the persecuted. It is the religion of enjoying the good and forbidding the evil with the hand, tongue and heart. It is the religion of Jihad in the way of Allah so that Allah's Word and religion reign Supreme. And it is the religion of unity and agreement on the obedience to Allah, and total equality between all people, without regarding their colour, sex, or language.
Islam = submission to Allah
